Engineer a Future Without Cancer
Multidisciplinary Approaches for One Goal
Develop Therapeutics to Combat Cancer Recurrence and Metastasis

“There’s lots of fun in exploring the unknown. There’s no greater thrill than in having an experiment turn out in such a way that you make a positive contribution.” – Jane Cooke Wright, a pioneer in cancer chemotherapy and in vitro tumor drug testing
Chia-Yi Su 蘇佳沂 M.D. Ph.D.
Dr. Chia-Yi Su is a physician, pathologist, and biomedical engineer whose research bridges clinical medicine, cancer pathology, and tumor model engineering. The Cancer Engineering Lab, led by Dr. Su, integrates spatiotemporal omics, 3D dynamic biomimetic tumor models, high-throughput drug screening, and in vivo models to unravel how the tumor microenvironment drives tumor dissemination and drug resistance, aiming to discover novel therapeutics that combat tumor recurrence and metastasis.

Team
We are grateful for the interest and enthusiasm from students around the world who wish to join our lab. However, our lab has reached full capacity for the 2026 academic year. To ensure the highest quality of research and mentoring, we are unable to take on additional students at this time. For those who are interested in joining us in the future, we would still be happy to hear from you. Email Dr. Su at cysu@nycu.edu.tw with your CV and a brief statement of research interests.
Our research focuses on spatiotemporal cancer biology, tumor model engineering across in vitro, in silico, and in vivo, digital pathology, and AI-based image analysis.
